All the Possibilities on Interface

Working on my project 2 interface ideas as we speak. Having a lot of trouble getting an idea I want to run with. Finding an interface that works with the manager is tricky, so I decided to play with the idea that the customers experiences the interface which I hope isn’t breaking the rules too much. This lead me to thinking – do they want their experience enhanced? (as the brief says)

The laundrette is an escape for a lot of people and they want the mundane – and they don’t was enhancing, I feel it might get in the way. But I need to some good ideas to present to Gabby and Jason tomorrow. So I went back to the managers and the idea from My Beautiful Laundrette of watching people and observing in secret from behind a screen (thanks Gordon!) – Hence the awesome home-made touch screen, which if I could make would be amazing and would enable the manager to interface with the images of the customers.

Stop Motion, Keep Moving

Had my end of project 1 crit on Thursday, went quite well although I didn’t get to complete the actual 4D drawing. The above stop motion animations is a development from my storyboard.

We have now been set project 2, which is dealing with the same character as project 1 (laundrette manager) but to create some interface that somehow changes the way he view something, not exactly sure what I’m going to do yet….

Laundrettes, Spins Cycles and Drunks

I will edevour to update more often, I’ll try daily that would be something to aim for. The last few weeks I have been working on Unit 9 project 1. Based around the initial idea of a storyboard, we where tasked to create a character in a specific environment and a story about them in 20 frames. I was inspired by the following documentary by Colm Martin, its 30 mins but worth watching. [It was part of the BBC Four series 'The Waiting Room']

The character I have worked on is a Laundrette owner/manager and an incident where a drunk man comes into the laundrette causes a scene and has to be chucked out by the police. This idea has been further developed which I will explain in my next post.
